Using ACQA to design a Msc Program Industrial and Applied Mathematics

The design of a program in academic education generally evolves under partly unconscious influence of factors of traditional, personal and departmentally political nature. At the Eindhoven University of Technology however, a useful system was developed to characterize the academic profile of programs, named Academic Competences and Quality Assurance (ACQA). This system describes seven areas of competence at Bsc and Msc level, with a list of competences within each area. ACQA has been applied already in several technical domains. Its application in the domain of Mathematics will be shown for the design of the Eindhoven program of Industrial and Applied Mathematics.
