Modeling Reality - Motivate your students

Many universities have established modeling activities like special lectures on modeling, seminars or project work for math students; the ECMI Modeling Week is a nice example on an European level. In the past years there is a strong (and growing) interest in the integration of modeling activities at high school level: From the results of the Pisa studies we know that students as well as their teachers need to enhance their modeling literacy.
This talk presents a general framework of modeling activities considering the needs of students at university and high school level as well as of teacher students. Key features are a strong focus on real world projects, "Learning by Doing" and the strong motivation participants gain from that real world character. Examples included!
