Aggregation during a Thermal Quench

Y. Farjoun (MIT, USA)

The creation and growth of clusters in the context of a quench are studied using two model problems. First, we examine an under-saturated vapor undergoing a prescribed quench. Clusters are nucleated during a short burst then they grow rapidly, bringing the vapor to equilibrium. We find asymptotic descriptions of the resulting distribution of cluster sizes and the total amount of clusters generated. Next, the flow of a warm gas onto a cold wall is examined. We find the amount of clusters generated, the concentration of monomers and the size of the clusters as functions of the distance to the wall.
