On Efficiency and Accuracy in Cardioelectric Simulation
M. Weiser (Zuse Institute Berlin, Germany) P. Deuflhard (Zuse Institute Berlin, Germany) and B. Erdmann (Zuse Institute Berlin, Germany)
Quantitatively correct simulations at organ level even of simple models of cardiac excitation are numerically challenging. The talk will present both algorithmic and analytical approaches to improving the efficiency of the numerical solution of the arising parabolic diffusion-reaction systems. In particular, pointwise nonlinear scaling and deliberate sparsing together with their impact on accuracy and memory requirements are discussed. Numerical experience is reported.
