The DRACULA Road Traffic Network Microsimulation Model
P. Goodman (University of Leeds)
Traffic microsimulation models are developed to represent the interactions among the different actors in a road network (e.g. drivers, vehicles pedestrians, system controls), the individual behaviours of the actors, and the dynamic evolutions and variability in a road network system.
This presentation introduces the DRACULA (Dynamic Route Assignment Combining User Learning and microsimulAtion) approach, in which the emphasis is on the integrated microsimulation of individual drivers’ decisions and individual vehicle travel experience through the network. It will present the modelling concept and its algorithmic implementation, and demonstrate its applicability in representing and evaluating real-world traffic management strategies.
